Westcoast declared force majeure after its Pine River Plant lostelectrical power and was forced to shut down all processingoperations late Wednesday afternoon. The plant had reported 153MMcf in receipts for Wednesday’s gas day. One-third of Pine River’soperational capacity had been restored around midnight PSTWednesday, two-thirds was operational at 8 a.m. Thursday, “and Isee [from SCADA instrumentation] that we’ve just now returned to100%,” a plant spokesman told NGI shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday.

TransCanada Pipelines Sells More Midstream

TransCanada Pipelines Ltd is on the move again. A week ago thecompany’s power subsidiary purchased Westcoast Energy’s interests infive Canadian cogeneration plants in a deal valued at C$512million. This week, its midstream subsidiary is selling its naturalgas gathering and processing assets in Saskatchewan to newcomer VISTAMidstream Solutions Ltd (see Daily GPI, Sept. 8).

Westcoast took its McMahon Plant off-line at midafternoon Sundayfor unplanned repairs to the inlet facility. Authorized volumes forSunday’s gas day were cut in half. A force majeure declaration forMcMahon was lifted early Monday morning.

Millennium Gains Ground; Upstream Links Filed

TransCanada Pipelines and Westcoast Energy subsidiary St. ClairPipelines last week filed with Canada’s National Energy Board tobuild the last remaining support components required fordevelopment of the Millennium Pipeline project, a 700 MMcf/d gasline designed to serve markets throughout the Northeast.

Millennium Makes Progress; Upstream Parts Filed

Westcoast Energy said its St. Clair Pipelines subsidiary filedthe last major component required for the Millennium Pipelineproject yesterday with the National Energy Board in Canada. Thecompany filed an application for a $165 million pipeline that wouldlink Union Gas’ Dawn Hub in Ontario to lake crossing facilities tobe built by TransCanada. TransCanada filed an application for thelake crossing facilities earlier this week. St. Clair’s 50-mileMillennium West Pipeline would deliver about 700 MMcf/d of gas toPatrick Point on the shores of Lake Erie.

TriState Files to Build 650 MMcf/d Gas Line

CMS Energy and Westcoast Energy filed an application with FERClast week for the U.S portion of their TriState Pipeline project, a650 MMcf/d gas pipeline that would extend to the Dawn Hub inOntario from Joliet, IL, near Chicago.
