Leaking GOM Well Flowing About 1,000 b/d

Last week’s sinking of Transocean Ltd.’s Deepwater Horizon rig following an apparent well blowout went from tragic to worse over the weekend as oil began leaking from the well the rig had been drilling on Mississippi Canyon Block 252 (MC252). Last Friday evening the search for 11 missing crew members was abandoned.

Storage Was Lightened by 111 Bcf; Futures Probe Lower

Natural gas futures traders went through a range of emotions Thursday morning after the Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that 111 Bcf was withdrawn from underground natural gas storage inventories for the week ending March 5. The number, which was just above most industry expectations, set off a mini-price rollercoaster that ultimately resulted in new lows for the down move.
