AES Sparrows Point Mulls Rehearing of Fourth Circuit Ruling

In the wake of a recent decision by a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit upholding Maryland’s denial of a water quality certification for AES Sparrows Point liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in Baltimore County, a company spokesman said it was considering several option, including petitioning for rehearing by the full court.

Ratings Outlook for NGPL Downgraded in Wake of FERC Probe

Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services Monday said it has revised its outlook for Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America (NGPL) to “negative” from “stable” in the wake of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) initiation of a Section 5 investigation to determine whether the pipeline may be overrecovering its costs, making rates to customers no longer just and reasonable.

In the wake of an Aug. 21, 2004 gas explosion in Sandy Township, PA, that destroyed a home and left two residents dead, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) Thursday modified a previous $80,000 settlement with National Fuel Gas Distribution Corp. (NFG), bumping it up to $150,000.
