New Jersey Regulators Approve Lower NJNG Rates for Distributed Generators

New Jersey’s Board of Public Utilities (BPU) approved a special rate plan for New Jersey Natural Gas Co.’s (NJNG) residential and commercial customers who use natural gas to fuel distributed generation technologies. Under the new rate offering, an average commercial customer could save up to 50% and a residential customer could save up to a 40% on delivery charges for natural gas used to power the small generation units, the utility said.

CPUC Okays Storage Gas Reclassification, Sales for SoCalGas

After many months of delay, the California Public Utilities Commission Thursday authorized Southern California Gas Co. to reclassify 14 Bcf of natural gas supplies in two of its underground storage fields as part of a reworking of the fields and sell the supplies for a combination of core, noncore and open market customers as a means of keeping downward pressure on wholesale gas prices in the state. The reconfiguration of the field was originally authorized by the CPUC in June 2001.

NJNG Petitions NJ Board for 3% Rate Increase

New Jersey Natural Gas Co. (NJNG) said Thursday that it has filed with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) for an adjustment in the price of Basic Gas Supply Service (BGSS), which will raise its customer’s bills by 3%.
