Canadian Deliveries to U.S. Up 4.5% at Start of Winter

Canadian natural gas exports took a sharp turn for the better in the opening month of the new sales contract year last November. Deliveries to the United States rose by 4.5% to 312 Bcf from 299 Bcf in November of 2001, according to records kept on the trade by Canada’s National Energy Board.

Eyes Turn to Tropical Depression Ten, But Cash Shows Little Movement

Tropical Depression Ten was churning south of Jamaica Tuesday evening and was poised to become a Tropical Storm in the next 24 hours, according to the National Hurricane Center. The storm contributed to a sharp rise in futures prices Tuesday — the October contract soared to a high of $3.69 — but failed to produce much of an effect on cash prices until very late trading. Most cash points were flat to up or down a few cents on average.

Cut to the Quick: Dynegy’s Stock Value at 51 Cents

The energy marketplace, investors and credit analysts appear to have little faith in Dynegy Inc.’s ability to turn its deteriorating financial picture around, because Thursday the three credit ratings agencies carved another slice from Dynegy Inc. and its affiliates’ ratings. Standard & Poor’s Rating Services, in concert with Moody’s Investors Service and Fitch Ratings, noted that the energy marketer’s liquidity is quickly disappearing and its ability to bring in cash is weakening.
