FERC Friday issued a favorable environmental assessment (EA) of Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line’s (Transco) and Florida Gas Transmission’s (FGT) joint proposal to connect the Mobile Bay Lateral with a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal being developed in Pascagoula, MS. A related upstream pipeline project of FGT’s got a favorable review as well.

WGL Loses Latest Effort to Block Transco LNG-Related Project

FERC last Thursday upheld a prior order that approved, over the strong objections of Washington Gas Light (WGL), Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line’s (Transco) proposal to construct two bidirectional interconnections to receive regasified liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the proposed Elba Express pipeline system.

The second phase of the Sentinel natural gas pipeline expansion by Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line (Transco) has begun service, increasing firm capacity into the Northeast by 102,000 Dth/d, Williams said. Transco placed the first phase of the Sentinel expansion into service last year (see Daily GPI, Dec. 24, 2008). The expansion increases total system capacity on the 10,500-mile Transco system to about 8.6 Bcf/d, according to Williams. During the Phase II expansion, Transco added or replaced 14 miles of pipe and modified eight meter stations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Phase I added about four miles of pipe in Pennsylvania, modified two meter stations and upgraded compressor stations.

FERC-Approved Projects Give Shale, LNG More Market Access

Following its August hiatus, FERC last Thursday approved three expansions — for Midcontinent Express Pipeline (MEP), Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line (Transco) and Mississippi Hub LLC. The proposed facilities would give shale gas producers and liquefied natural gas (LNG) importers greater access to natural gas markets along the East Coast and in the Northeast.
