All but two of Encana Corp.’s 35 shut-in natural gas wells were back in service Tuesday in the Piceance Basin as the danger from the Pine Ridge fire along the Western Slope in Colorado continued to subside. The two remaining shut-in wells are “low-producing” and located in the north end of the Piceance, an Encana spokesperson told NGI.

Private hedge fund operator Third Point LLC, which is run by activist investor Daniel Loeb, listed Chesapeake Energy Corp. as one of the fund’s largest new holdings in a June exposure report to investors, according to several market followers.

In an apparent bow to local opposition, a Texas company has withdrawn its proposal to build two injection wells for wastewater from oil and natural gas drilling in Mansfield, OH.

National Fuel Gas Midstream Corp. (NFG Midstream), a unit of National Fuel Gas Co., said its Trout Run Gathering System in Lycoming County, PA, was recently placed in service and is delivering gas to an interconnect with Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Co. LLC (Transco). Initial production is from four recently completed wells operated by Seneca Resources Corp., a subsidiary of National Fuel.

FERC Tuesday approved Equitrans LP’s request to abandon by sale its Sunrise Pipeline facilities that are currently under construction to a newly created affiliate, Sunrise Pipeline LLC, which was formed by Equitrans owner EQT Corp.

There has been an “active series” of cyber attacks on natural gas pipeline companies’ computer networks over the past four months, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The department said it is working with the FBI and other federal agencies, as well as pipelines, to bring down the cyber intruders.

Chevron U.S.A. Inc. and EQT Corp. marketing unit EQT Energy LLC have stepped up to be anchor shippers on Texas Eastern Transmission LP’s Texas Eastern Appalachia to Market (TEAM) 2014 expansion, Spectra Energy Corp.’s Texas Eastern said Thursday. The project is intended to deliver more Appalachian shale gas to markets in the Northeast, Midwest and southern United States.
