Crystal LNG Offshore CA Proposal Seeks Conditional Alaskan Deal

A Texas-based privately financed effort to bring Alaskan gas supplies in the form of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to a converted offshore oil platform off the Southern California coast is pushing for a conditional contract with the Alaska Gasline Port Authority (AGPA), according to William O. Perkins III, president of Houston-based Crystal Energy, LLC, who returned Wednesday from recent discussions with Alaskan officials.

Regency Gas Services LLC said an affiliate has completed a $62 million purchase of West Texas gas gathering, processing and treating assets from Duke Energy Field Services. The facilities, known as the Waha system, consist of more than 600 miles of pipeline, 40,000 horsepower of compression and gas processing and treating capacities of more than 125 MMcf/d. In June, 2003 Regency acquired gas gathering, processing, treating and transmission pipeline assets in Kansas, Oklahoma, and North Louisiana from El Paso Field Services. Dalls-based Regency now has combined assets consisting of 2,900 miles of pipelines, 115,000 horsepower of compression and five gas processing plants with aggregate processing capacity of about 330 MMcf/d. Total gas throughput for the company is now 450 MMcf/d.

El Paso to Take $1B Charge on Reserve Revisions

Production shortfalls in South Texas assets and high natural gas prices forced El Paso Corp. to slash its proved oil and gas reserves by 41% following an independent review, which will lead to a fourth quarter pre-tax ceiling test charge of at least $1 billion, the company said Tuesday.

Tetco Gets Green Light to Begin Building Expansion in TN, MS

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has given Texas Eastern Transmission (Tetco) the go-ahead to begin construction on a portion of its proposed looping and compression expansion of its mainline pipeline system in Tennessee and Mississippi.
