Transportation Notes

Texas Eastern said an unplanned outage at its Five Points (OH) Compressor Station (see Daily GPI, May 15) has been resolved and the station was returned to normal operation Friday. All restrictions on its 24-inch diameter system in the area were removed.

Texas Lawmaker Proposes Fees on LNG, Gas Transfers

A Texas lawmaker wants to charge a 25 cent/boe fee for the transfer of liquefied natural gas (LNG), crude oil and petroleum products to or from marine terminals in order to support a $20 million fund that would pay for measures to combat coastal erosion. However, it is in doubt whether the fee would be in compliance with the U.S. Constitution.

California Muni Signs up for ‘Green’ Gas

Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) has signed a $21 million, 15-year deal to buy landfill gas in Texas from Shell Energy North America to expand its renewable energy supplies. The contract calls for 6 billion Btu/d.

Transportation Notes

TGT said it reduced capacity Tuesday on the Sharon Carthage Segment in northwest Louisiana and at Texas Eastern (location 2757) to 500,000 MMBtu/d due to unscheduled maintenance at Sharon (LA) Compressor Station. TGT tentatively estimates that the maintenance will be completed by the start of Saturday’s gas day.
