Oregon LNG Hopes to Be ‘Little Engine’ in Permitting Race

While other proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects started earlier and are further along in the siting process, Vancouver, WA-based Oregon LNG may catch up given that its permitting already has been cleared by the state land-use appeals process. The other two Oregon projects still face that oversight, which is expected to be contested by opponents of the two projects — NorthernStar Natural Gas’s Bradwood Landing site along the Columbia River and Jordan Cove in Coos Bay along the south-central Oregon coast.

Private LNG Play Gets Financing for OR, CA Projects

A dark horse in the race for siting a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal along the U.S. West Coast, NorthernStar Natural Gas, Inc., a U.S.-owned and managed privately held company created specifically to site LNG facilities, announced Monday it has completed a $100 million private offering of convertible notes to qualified institutional buyers.

Maine Residents Vote in Favor of Downeast LNG Project

Residents in the town of Robbinston, ME, voted 227-83 Tuesday in favor siting the Downeast liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in their town. The $400 million project, which would have a peak sendout capacity of 500 MMcf/d and would include one 160,000 cubic meter storage tank, would be located on Mill Cove, where Passamaquoddy Bay meets the mouth of the St. Croix River.

LNG Tanker Congestion Could Pose Problem at Gulf Ports

Sponsors of multiple new LNG import terminal projects who took the line of least resistance in siting their terminals along the Gulf of Mexico Coast are facing another problem, that of tanker congestion from ships using the same access waterway or port, according to an article in Poten & Partners monthly publication, LNG in World Markets.
