FERC Rejects Spin-Off of Transco’s South Texas System

FERC Tuesday shot down a second attempt by Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line to spin off and sell its 423-mile South Texas system, saying the facilities “are essential for the provision of open access interstate service [CP04-385].”

XTO’s Proven Reserves Increase 40% in 2004

Fort Worth-based XTO Energy Inc.’s proven oil and natural gas reserves shot up 40% year-over-year in 2004, to a record 5.86 Tcfe from 4.185 Tcfe in 2003. XTO said it added 2.047 Tcfe at a cost of $1.26/Mcfe, replacing 551% of production in 2004.

Cheniere Energy Stock Rockets After Inking LNG Deals with ChevronTexaco, Total

Cheniere Energy Inc. stock shot up nearly 45% Tuesday after Total LNG USA Inc. and an affiliate of ChevronTexaco Global Gas reported they signed separate 20-year agreements with Cheniere subsidiary, Sabine Pass LNG LP, to buy a total of 1.7 Bcf/d of regasification capacity at the company’s proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal on the Gulf Coast in Cameron Parish, LA.

Producers Knock Transco’s Proposed Spin-Off of South Texas Pipe Facilities

Calling the proposal a “repackaged” version of one that FERC shot down last year, a group of producers has urged the Commission to reject a bid by Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line to spin off part of its South Texas mainline and lateral facilities to an unaffiliated Texas intrastate pipeline, Dallas-based Crosstex CCNG Transmission Ltd.
