California is shooting to have all of its qualifying facility (QF) power generation plants back online within the next eight to 10 days, a move that will help ease California’s energy crunch, but won’t solve it completely, state officials told a U.S. House hearing Thursday.

KCBT Still Shooting Blanks
The Kansas City Board of Trade (KCBT) had an estimated volumefor the first time this month yesterday, but the Board’s managementis not concerned about the overall lack of trading. The KCBT hasrecognized the problem and is in discussions with its customers onhow it can bring its trading floor more to life, a spokespersonsaid, but others openly wonder if there will be a gas pit at theKCBT much longer.
Flames Continue From Meridian Well
The Meridian Resource Corp. said flames still are shooting 150feet in the air from its Thibodaux No. 2 well near Amelia, LA, sixdays after the well was struck by lightening. The well wasscheduled to begin production in July with about 18 MMcf/d of gasand 1,800 b/d of condensate.
Crossroads Plans Expansion, Link to NGPL, N. Border
NIPSCO Industries, Inc. subsidiary Crossroads Pipeline isshooting for a 300% increase in system throughput with an extensionof its Midwest pipeline system to new interconnects with NorthernBorder Pipeline and Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America.Crossroads plans to hold an open season for an additional 500,000Dth/d of firm transportation services beginning Feb. 16 andconcluding March 31. The system currently transports about 150,000Dth/d from a connection with NGPL in Schererville, IN, to aconnection with Columbia Gas at Maumee, OH.
