NSTAR, the parent company of Boston Edison, CommonwealthElectric, Cambridge Electric and Commonwealth Gas, has requestedthat the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission impose a price cap of$1,000/MWh on the New England wholesale power market to protectelectricity consumers from potential surges in prices during peakperiods this summer (see Docket No. EL00-83).

Coastal Corp.’s Gulfstream Natural Gas System has sent a requestfor quotation (RFQ) to 10 pre-qualified contractors forinstallation of the offshore portion of its proposed 744-milenatural gas pipeline from Alabama across the Gulf of Mexico toFlorida.

El Paso sent out a request this week for potential shippers onits proposed Yuma Lateral to get their plans in order. The project,which will serve new gas-fired power generation in Sonora and BajaCalifornia, Mexico, includes a broad range of possibilities interms of size and location.
