Pioneer Brings on Falcon Deepwater Production at 185 MMcf/d, Plus 650 b/d Condensate
Pioneer Natural Resources Co. announced Monday its 100% owned and operated Falcon field in the western deepwater Gulf of Mexico began producing from two wells at approximately 185 MMcf/d and 650 b/d of condensate on March 15. The Falcon field start-up was the second of five major projects the company expects to bring online by early 2004.

As a result of “much colder than normal temperatures forecasted for this time of the heating season” due to arrive early Sunday in its market area, NGPL issued an OFO that limited hourly takes and daily balancing at delivery points in the Market Delivery Zone effective at 6 a.m. CST Sunday until further notice. Another factor in the OFO’s implementation is “the high average hourly peak loads observed during similar weather conditions this year in January and February,” NGPL said.

Avista Asks Idaho Regulators to Lower Natural Gas Rates
Banking on wholesale natural gas prices to be lower in the upcoming winter heating season, Avista Corp.’s utilities last week asked Idaho regulators to decrease natural gas rates for its 59,000 customers in the state by an average of 15.5%, effective Nov. 1. It would be the first decrease for Avista gas utility customers in the state since 1997, following six rate increases that collectively more than doubled the average bill for residential customers over the period.

Pacific Gas and Electric said it completed a $40 million expansion of its Line 401, adding 14 miles of new 42-inch diameter pipe that increases capacity on the line by 180 MMcf/d to a mid-winter maximum of about 2.2 Bcf/d. The utility’s instate California pipeline expansion project was approved as a capital expenditure through the court adopted bankruptcy review process.
