Due to “an issue” upstream of Little Red River Compressor Station with the in-line inspection tool it was running on the Fayetteville Lateral between the Grandview and Bald Knob stations, TGT will take volumes at 14 receipt points upstream of Little Red River to zero at the start of Thursday’s gas day. TGT said Thursday it had “experienced an issue” with an in-line inspection tool that was running upstream of block valve 3 on the Fayetteville Lateral between the Grandview and Bald Knob compressor stations. The pipeline said it continued to hold physical supplies coming in upstream of the valve to 350,000 MMBtu/d Thursday, but will take 10 receipt points to zero flows Friday while it performs maintenance to remove the inspection tool from the line. Three receipt points in the area will remain available while the work, which is expected to be completed by the start of Saturday’s gas day, is being done, TGT said.
High Court Reversal Sides With Generators Over Environmentalists
Putting to bed the long-running dispute between utilities and environmental advocates over power plant cooling water intake structures, the U.S. Supreme Court said last week that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) can run a cost-benefit analysis to determine the best technology for mitigating the environmental impact rather than simply selecting the best technology available. The high court’s 6-3 ruling overturned a decision made last year by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
FERC Sets Paper Hearing, Settlement Talks on Western Power Contracts
FERC last Thursday set a paper hearing on a remand of a long-running case centered on millions of dollars in Enron-era wholesale power contracts that western power companies protested tied them to artificially high prices. The Commission action came just 14 days after it officially received the remand of its decision to uphold the contracts. The paper hearing will be held in abeyance, however, while parties attempt a settlement of the seven-year old case.
Troubled Commerce Energy Considers More Asset Sales
Running out of time to shore up its finances ahead of a bank facility expiration Dec. 22, Commerce Energy Wednesday announced an agreement to sell off most of its remaining customer base. Commerce has through Nov. 26 to carve out a deal with Universal Energy Group Ltd (UEG), according to Commerce CEO Gregory Craig.
