Susquehanna Commission Expands Marcellus Shale Monitoring

To provide an early warning system for potential natural gas drilling incidents, the Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC) on Tuesday said it would expand its network of electronic water quality monitors on streams that flow through the Marcellus Shale region of New York and Pennsylvania.

Encana Natural Gas Inc. has opened a compressed natural gas fueling station in Coushatta, LA, its first, to serve the company’s fleet of vehicles in Red River Parish. Starting next year the Encana Corp. subsidiary expects to offer the station’s fueling service to other corporate fleets in the region. The company said plans to open its next four natural gas fueling stations, one in each of the states of Wyoming and Colorado and two in Western Canada next year.

Oregon LNG Gets County Pipeline Land-Use Approval

Proponents of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal near the mouth of the Columbia River at Warrenton, OR, received a local land-use approval Monday for a connecting transmission pipeline intended to link the terminal to interstate pipelines and the greater Portland, OR market. Oregon LNG CEO Peter Hansen called the Clatsop County decision critical for the LNG project.

Transportation Notes

Due to unscheduled maintenance at Mississippi River Transmission’s (MRT) Fountain Hill facilities, MRT said it will need to shut them down for a 24-hour period sometime between May 19 and May 21. During this period MRT will be unable to inject into storage at Unionville and may not schedule any volumes that result in a daily long position or accept any makeup of short positions. MRT also may not schedule IT, AOR or secondary firm transportation volumes to storage or allocate secondary firm transportation on a no-notice basis.

MDU Snaps Up Green River Gas in $113M Deal

MDU Resources Group’s production subsidiary Fidelity Exploration & Production Co. said it has acquired producing natural gas properties located in the Green River Basin in Sweetwater and Carbon counties in southwest Wyoming for $113 million from an undisclosed seller.
