Ahead of schedule, Kerr-McGee Oil & Gas Corp. and its partners have achieved first production from the first of three subsea wells in the Gunnison field in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico (GOM). The other wells are expected to ramp up by year’s end, with daily production from all three projected at 5,000 bbl/d and 125 MMcf/d by mid-January.

Cheniere Ramps Up Activity As Greenspan Touts LNG
Following closely on the heels of Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan’s pro-LNG testimony before a House panel, Cheniere Energy Inc. said Friday that it has closed the formation of its partnership with BPU LNG, an affiliate of Sherwin Alumina, to build an LNG receiving facility on a site adjacent to the Sherwin Alumina plant in Corpus Christi, TX. The partnership was first announced in mid-May (see Daily GPI, May 16).

Pioneer Ramps Up Falcon Deepwater Production
Pioneer Natural Resources Co. announced last week that its 100% owned and operated Falcon field in the western deepwater Gulf of Mexico began producing from two wells at approximately 185 MMcf/d and 650 b/d of condensate on March 15. The Falcon field start-up was the second of five major projects the company expects to bring online by early 2004.
Magnum Hunter Ramps Up 2003 Gulf Drilling Program
Answering the call for increased domestic natural gas production, Magnum Hunter Resources Inc. said new production has commenced from its West Cameron Block 426 located on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) of the Gulf of Mexico. In addition, the Irving, TX-based company said it anticipates the start of new production from West Cameron Block 416 later this week, Ship Shoal 28 next month and West Cameron Block 428 within ten weeks.
Marathon’s Ultra-Deep Camden Hills Ramps Up Gas Production
Marathon Oil Co.’s Camden Hills field in the ultra-deepwater of the Gulf of Mexico has begun producing natural gas at a rate of 50 MMcf/d from the first two fields, and is expected to reach peak production of 100 MMcf/d later this month. The production is flowing from a new world-record water depth of 7,209 feet.
