A group of producers and affiliates has filed a protest at FERC objecting to Southern Natural Gas pipeline’s request to sell pipeline, proposed compression and associated facilities to Magnolia Enterprise Holdings Inc. (MEHI), a subsidiary of Atlanta-based AGL Resources Inc., for an estimated $20.3 million.

Responding to a court order following an environmental protest of its decision on coalbed methane (CBM) development in the Powder River Basin and the Billings area in Montana, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in a Federal Register notice on Friday issued a notice of intent to prepare a supplement to the final environmental impact statement (FEIS) on oil and gas development in the area and to amend its resource management plans (RMP).

Following up on its long-standing protest of a FERC trial unit’s settlement with Spokane, WA-based Avista Corp. over alleged trading violations, the California Attorney General’s Office came out swinging late Wednesday in response to the federal regulators ratifying the deal and concluding that the holding company’s utility and trading units had not manipulated wholesale energy markets during the western crisis of 2000-2001.

Arizona regulators and East-of-California (EOC) shippers have asked FERC to suspend action on El Paso Natural Gas pipeline’s settlement of California claims until the company files the complete settlement document.
