California Attorney General Sues Enron, Asks for FERC Rehearing on Refund Issue

Promising continued legal actions and citing a “shocking disregard for public welfare,” California Attorney General Bill Lockyer last week filed a civil lawsuit in an East San Francisco Bay state Superior Court against Houston-based Enron Corp., alleging unfair business practices and violations of the state’s commodity law. The state court filing came three days after his office asked FERC to reconsider a refund order directed at the state last month.

Ticonderoga Discovery Looks Promising for Kerr-McGee, Noble Energy

Kerr-McGee Corp. and Noble Energy Inc. said Monday that their Ticonderoga discovery well and initial sidetrack in the Gulf of Mexico encountered more than 250 feet of net high-quality hydrocarbon pay, primarily oil, in three zones. The companies — which own the discovery jointly — estimate that Ticonderoga, located on Green Canyon Block 768 in approximately 5,250 feet of water, offers potential resources of 30-50 million boe.

The companies said they are planning a 250-well CBM development within the Palliser block in Alberta later in 2002.
