CFTC, SEC May Need More Time to Iron Out Jurisdictional Conflicts

The heads of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) last Wednesday said they were making progress in harmonizing the jurisdictional areas of the two agencies, but they told House lawmakers they may need more time beyond a Sept. 30 deadline to submit a final report to Congress.

CIG said it “is beginning to see some progress in achieving balance in its storage fields,” but the Ft. Morgan and Latigo facilities “continue to operate above the storage guidelines.” Therefore the previously announced Strained Operating Condition, OFO and Underperformance Caps will remain in place until further notice, CIG said, adding that it will update its assessment of operating conditions for the upcoming weekend no later than 2 p.m. MDT Thursday.

Florida PSC Grants Progress Energy Gas Cost Recovery on New Supplies

Ruling that Progress Energy Florida (PEF) was simply enhancing the reliability of its fuel supply, the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) has granted the utility permission to recover the costs associated with transporting new supplies of domestic natural gas. The utility said it plans to enter into a series of agreements to move gas on a proposed pipeline known as the Southeast Supply Header (SESH).
