El Paso Corp. subsidiary Tennessee Gas Pipeline (TGP) said it signed precedent agreements with shippers in support of two pipeline expansion projects that are designed to meet growing gas demand in the Northeast. The projects, which are called Northeast ConneXion-New England and Northeast ConneXion-New York/New Jersey, are being developed in response to customers’ requests for additional gas supply access from storage fields in New York, Pennsylvania and the Gulf Coast.

Hurdles Still Remain for PG&E Utility-CPUC Proposed Bankruptcy Settlement

Time and money drove parties to last week’s precedent-setting proposed Chapter 11 bankruptcy settlement between Pacific Gas and Electric Co. and state regulators because of the prospects of costly, time-consuming seemingly endless litigation. Nevertheless, many hurdles for the proposed deal emerged in the immediate aftermath last Friday, not the least of which were critical comments from regulators and the state’s governor.

Puget Sound Energy Eyes Gas Settlement, Improved State Regulatory Climate

Fresh from a precedent-setting electric rate settlement including a wholesale power cost coverage mechanism, Puget Sound Energy (PSE) of Bellevue, WA, is eyeing a similar natural gas settlement by Sept. 1 in what its executives described as an improved state regulatory climate during a conference call with financial analysts Friday. The utility, which is part of the Puget Energy corporate structure, has a $56 million, or 9.1%, gas rate increase pending with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (WUTC).
