The expansion would be designed to bring new gas supply potentially from offshore development and from liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminals planned in Atlantic Canada to markets in eastern Canada and the northeastern United States. The chief executive of Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) resigned last Monday following rumors of a possible scandal involving payouts for personal healthcare and housing loans without seeking approval from the state-controlled oil monopoly. Raul Munoz Leos, 65, will be replaced by Luis Ramirez Corzo, director general of exploration and production (E&P) since 2001.

Unocal Test Well to Determine Possible New Gas Storage Facility in Colorado

Following up on a request to FERC in June, Unocal Midstream & Trade (UMT) is assessing the feasibility of developing the first-ever bedded salt natural gas storage facility in Morgan County, CO. Unocal Windy Hill Gas Storage LLC asked the Commission for permission to conduct subsurface testing four months ago (see NGI, July 5).
