Expecting it to be the complete opposite of current weather conditions, WSI Corp. said last week that the February-April period should bring cooler-than-normal temperatures generally south and east of a line from Phoenix to Dallas to Raleigh, NC, with warmer-than-normal temperatures to be the rule elsewhere, especially in the northern tier of states.

Local CA Residents Split on Opposition, Approval for Offshore LNG

As part of the six-week public comment period on a recently released favorable draft environmental impact assessment, local residents along the Southern California coast, about 60 miles northwest of Los Angeles turned out last week (Nov. 30-Dec. 3) at local meetings hosted by the city governments to express their views on the proposal of Australian resources giant BHP Billiton to develop an offshore liquefied natural gas receiving terminal. Despite the developer’s promise of $25 million in annual economic benefits with no safety/environmental risks, most of the residents’ views were negative.

BP Says 3Q Production Up Despite Ivan Impact

BP plc’s third quarter oil and natural gas production is up 11% from the same period a year ago, but lower sequentially from the second quarter because of annual facilities maintenance and shut-ins from Hurricane Ivan, the company said last week. The London-based major, which is scheduled to report 3Q earnings on Oct. 26, still expects average production for 2004 to meet a previous target of at least 4 MMboe/d.
