Transportation Notes

Tennessee said Tuesday it does not expect third-party resolution of a force majeure event in the South Marsh Island 249 area a week earlier (see Daily GPI, March 13) until around March 31. Until resolution is completed, Tennessee requires that operators and producers keep physical flow at zero until further notice at 13 meters in the South Marsh Island and Vermilion areas offshore Louisiana.

DTE Sells Portion of Barnett Shale Stake for $260M

DTE Energy on Friday agreed to sell a portion of its Barnett Shale natural gas properties in Texas to an undisclosed third party for $260 million. The properties include 153 Bcf of proved and probable reserves on 11,000 net acres in the core of the play.

Chevron’s Combined U.S. Liquids, Gas Output Seen Off 3%

Chevron Corp.’s combined U.S. liquids and natural gas production fell an estimated 3% sequentially in 1Q2007 from 4Q2006 following third-party pipeline downtime that affected operations in the Gulf of Mexico and the San Joaquin Valley, the company said in an interim quarterly update. Combined international output also fell 1%.

Seneca to Audit Appalachia Holdings, Consider Midstream Investment

The exploration and production (E&P) arm of National Fuel Gas Co. (NFG) is hiring a third-party consultant to analyze the reserve potential of its Appalachian Basin holdings, executives said last week. Seneca Resources Corp.’s current proved reserves total about 83 Bcfe, or 13% of its total consolidated reserves, but the E&P wants to test the potential of its 935,000 net acre play after partnering with EOG Resources Inc. on some horizontal drilling projects.

Transportation Notes

Southern Natural Gas said third-party damage caused an unscheduled outage on the 18-inch diameter South Pass Line offshore southeast Louisiana. Because of the outage, Southern is unable to accept nominations at the Main Pass 61A, Main Pass 61B and Main Pass 61B Buy Back points until further notice. In an update Monday, the pipeline said it is still developing a repair plan and the anticipated return to service date is unknown at this time.

Transportation Notes

Wyoming Interstate Gas Co. and Colorado Interstate Gas Co. declared a Force Majeure due to third party damage of the WIC pipeline just west of the CIG/WIC Cheyenne compressor station (see related story). All transport volumes on WIC through Laramie Station have been shut in and will be scheduled to zero until further notice. Transportation through the Medicine Bow lateral will not be affected. CIG has 246 MMcf/d of capacity on the WIC system and that volume along with all other WIC volumes moving through Laramie WIC station is being affected.

BHP Billiton Rebuts Governor Candidate on CA Offshore LNG Plans

BHP Billiton challenged Phil Angelides, California State Treasurer and Democratic Party candidate for governor, on his opposition to Billiton’s plans for an LNG receiving terminal 12 miles off the Pacific Coast from Oxnard, CA. Angelides is proposing a tough, detailed state review of all LNG projects.

Transportation Notes

Florida Gas Transmission said a third-party contractor damaged its Texas mainline near compressor station six, requiring one to three days of repair work. The line had been transporting about 300,000 Dth/d. FGT also declared an overage alert in its market area Tuesday with a 25% tolerance.
