The Powder River Basin Resource Council has filed pleadings in Wyoming district court in opposition to the governor’s rejection of reforms to the management of coalbed methane (CBM) discharge water. The citizens group said Gov. Dave Freudenthal’s move to block the “thoroughly debated citizen initiative” was “arbitrary, capricious and not in accordance with the law.”

OCC: Columbia Customers Should Not Be Responsible for Faulty Risers

The Office of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel (OCC) went public last week in opposition to a request by Columbia Gas of Ohio to collect from its customers any current or future costs related to an investigation of natural gas risers, which are the vertical portion of the service line that connect the pipeline to the customer’s meter. The residential consumer utility advocate said in a filing at the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) that the costs associated with the risers, or the investigation of the risers, should not fall to consumers.

Dominion East Ohio Supply Auction Gets Green Light

Over opposition from Ohio Consumers’ Counsel (OCC), the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) on Friday approved a plan by Dominion East Ohio to eliminate gas-cost-recovery rates in favor of a pricing plan that sets rates based on a more market-based methodology. The OCC said the outcome would “not ensure customer savings.”
