NGPL said it had discovered an anomaly on the A/G Line in Segment 15 near Station 801, which will require it to operate at reduced capacity for gas flowing west through Station 801. NGPL said it was reducing Segment 15 backhauls, and effective Saturday until further notice IT and Secondary out-of-path firm transportation in the segment was unavailable, while Secondary in-path and Primary services were at risk of not being scheduled.

Freeport LNG Pursuing NGL Extraction Capability

Freeport LNG has applied at FERC to construct and operate a natural gas liquids (NGL) extraction system at the Quintana Island liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal in Texas. Adding the capability to extract NGLs would broaden the terminal’s options among global LNG supplies and improve the pipeline-readiness of regasified LNG, Freeport LNG said.

Storage Facility Proposed for Northern California

Central Valley Gas Storage LLC last week requested authorization from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to construct and operate an underground natural gas storage facility north of Sacramento with initial capacity of 5.5 Bcf, which would be expandable to 8 Bcf.

Western Gas Partners LP, which was formed by Anadarko Petroleum Corp. to operate and develop midstream assets, plans to pay its founder $107 million to acquire some midstream properties in Anadarko’s prized Greater Natural Buttes Field in the Uinta Basin of northeastern Utah.

CIG said it “is beginning to see some progress in achieving balance in its storage fields,” but the Ft. Morgan and Latigo facilities “continue to operate above the storage guidelines.” Therefore the previously announced Strained Operating Condition, OFO and Underperformance Caps will remain in place until further notice, CIG said, adding that it will update its assessment of operating conditions for the upcoming weekend no later than 2 p.m. MDT Thursday.

Cardinal Gas Storage Partners subsidiary Perryville Gas Storage LLC has applied to FERC for a certificate of public convenience and necessity to construct, own and operate a new salt dome natural gas storage facility and related facilities in the Crowville Salt Dome in Franklin and Richland parishes, LA. The facility will provide a total of approximately 15 Bcf of working capacity in two caverns. Plans call for interconnections with CenterPoint Energy Gas Transmission and Columbia Gulf Transmission near Delhi, LA. The company also requested FERC approval to provide firm and interruptible storage services and interruptible hub services from the facility. Assuming FERC authorization by Dec. 1, Perryville said construction could begin in early 2010.
