Anadarko Canada Sale Expected to Fetch $4.5B

With buyers said to be lined up with unsolicited offers, Anadarko Petroleum Corp. announced last week it will unload profitable subsidiary Anadarko Canada Corp. for an undisclosed price. In 2005, the Canadian subsidiary provided 11% of Anadarko’s total proved reserves. Analysts expect the unit to fetch more than $4 billion.

Senate GOP Energy Bill Would Remove Barrier to Weaver’s Cove Project

As other Republican energy proposals were falling by the wayside, Sen. Craig Thomas (R-WY) on Thursday introduced legislation that offers incentives to expand energy supply and infrastructure in an attempt to lower fuel prices. Cheniere Takes Sendout Offers for LA LNG Terminal

Cheniere Energy Inc. is taking offers from potential customers for 500 MMcf/d of regasification capacity at its Sabine Pass LNG terminal, which is under construction in Cameron Parish, LA. The company also announced that its affiliate, Cheniere LNG Marketing, has signed a long-term contract for 1.5 Bcf/d of regasification capacity at the Sabine Pass terminal and for 1 Bcf/d at Cheniere’s Corpus Christi LNG terminal in Corpus Christi, TX.

Nymex Holdings Board Considers Alternative Strategies

The principals aren’t talking, but rumors have been swirling in recent weeks about potential buy-out offers for portions of the increasingly valuable energy trading portion of the New York Mercantile Exchange. The latest was a report circulating Thursday that J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. was presenting a proposal to the Nymex board to set up an initial public offering for the Exchange.
