Dynegy Partners in TradeSpark, Links DynegyDirect

Dynegy announced that it has become a partner in TradeSpark LP and will link its proprietary e-commerce portal, DynegyDirect, to the TradeSpark system, a multiple-party electronic trading platform powered by eSpeed and supported by Cantor Fitzgerald. TradeSpark also apparently wants to allow its other partners, which include Coral Energy, Dominion, Entergy-Koch Trading LP, TXU Energy Trading and Williams Energy Marketing and Trading, to link their own proprietary trading platforms to the TradeSpark system.

Enron Case Proceeds on Multiple Fronts

The latest developments in the Enron case include the appointment of an examiner to monitor cash flows at Enron North America, reports that Arthur Andersen is seeking a total settlement of claims against the accounting firm relating to Enron, and statements by Enron’s interim CEO Stephen Cooper that the bankrupt company is planning a “broad legal assault” against individuals who forced the company into bankruptcy.

Pemex Director Wants More Service Contracts to Up E&P

Mexico’s national oil company, Petroleos Mexicanos SA (Pemex), next year plans to offer more multiple service contracts, similar to one it did this year with a U.S. and Canadian company, to encourage more exploration and production in the country, Pemex Director General Raul Munoz Leos told analysts in New York City on Thursday. Munoz said that even though the Mexican constitution limits foreign investment in the country’s energy industry, he is confident that contracts could be written to improve investments by service companies and integrated energy companies.

Duke Energy Field Services (DEFS) finished off 2000 with a bangby completing three year-end asset transactions. First, the companyfinalized the $91 million sale of natural gas liquid (NGL) pipelineassets to TEPPCO Crude Pipeline, L.P., then it completed thepurchase of certain natural gas pipeline assets from El Paso FieldServices in two separate deals for an undisclosed sum.
