Titan to Return $281,000 To PA Consumers
The Pennsylvania Office of Consumer Advocate (OCA) announced that Titan Energy, which was purchased by AES Power Direct, LLC for $6 million in cash at the end of July, will be returning an estimated $281,000 in uncashed deposit checks to approximately 6,300 of its Pennsylvania customers in the Columbia Gas and Peoples Natural Gas service territories (see NGI, July 31).

Key, Columbus Deal to Fund Drilling, Acquisitions
Denver’s Key Production Co. has agreed to acquire all of theoutstanding common stock of Columbus Energy Corp. in exchange for1.3 million shares of Key common stock. When complete, Columbusshareholders will own about 10% of the combined company, with Keyshareholders owning the rest.
Aquila Inks Long-Term Deal with APEA
Aquila Energy said it has been awarded a $550 million long-termcontract to supply 154 Bcf of natural gas over 12 years to membersof the American Public Energy Agency (APEA). It is the fourthcontract the agency has awarded to Aquila since 1998.

San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) re-emphasized yesterdaythat it would be willing to arrange its 1.2 million customers’ paymentoptions to accommodate for the above normal electricity prices fromthe California Power Exchange. SDG&E announced it would not shutanybody’s power off for failure to pay through the remainder of thesummer through October. The utility also announced that it would notreport any of its customers to credit agencies during this period oradd late charges. Atmos Buys 55% Stake in Woodward Marketing
Atmos Energy announced last week that it plans to spend about$33 million in stock to buy the remaining 55% share of WoodwardMarketing that it does not already own. The Houston-based marketersells about 125 Bcf/year of natural gas primarily to municipalitiesand industrial end-users in the Southeast and Gulf Coast regions.
