Quite a few points, mostly in the Midcontinent/Midwest and West regions, were moderately higher Wednesday, but except for a few other gains elsewhere, prices failed to see the price rally that some had expected to be generated by an impending bout of severe winter weather in northern market areas.

NGPL Holds Open Seasons for MidContinent Storage, A/G Line Capacity
Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America (NGPL), Thursday announced it is holding open seasons for additional storage capacity at its Sayre storage field in Oklahoma, and transportation capacity along connecting pipes in northern Texas and Oklahoma. The Kinder Morgan subsidiary is proposing to add 10 Bcf of working gas capacity to the current 38.1 Bcf at the Sayre field.

Cimarex Reports 2Q Gas Production Up 34%
Denver-based Cimarex Energy Co., whose exploration efforts are centered in the MidContinent and Gulf Coast regions, reported Wednesday that its second quarter aggregate oil and natural gas output handily beat its production guidance, increasing 28% over a year ago on the strength of significant natural gas production.
Imperial Petroleum to Acquire Arkoma Basin Acreage
Continuing its quest to purchase oil and gas leases across the Midcontinent, junior independent Imperial Petroleum Inc. signed a letter of intent this week to acquire a 50% interest in 17,700 acres of leases in the Arkoma Basin. Many of the identified prospects are located near existing natural gas pipelines.
Chesapeake Adds 68 Bcfe of Proved Reserves, Locks in Hedges on Production
Chesapeake Energy Corp. added another 68 Bcfe proved oil and gas reserves and 39 Bcfe of probable and possible reserves in the Midcontinent, Permian Basin and Texas Gulf Coast regions Tuesday through four purchases totaling $100 million.
Enbridge Partnership Executes $247 Million Acquisition of North Texas Gas Facilities
Increasing its natural gas gathering and processing footprint in the U.S. Midcontinent and Gulf Coast, Houston-based Enbridge Energy Partners LP (EEP) has signed a definitive purchase agreement to acquire gathering and processing assets in North Texas from Cantera Resources Inc., an affiliate of Morgan Stanley Capital Partners.
Transportation Notes
NGPL plans to run a sweeping pig Thursday in the Midcontinent Zone’s Segment 2 from Station 156 (Kiowa County, OK) to Station 801 (Carter County, OK). Eleven meters will be unavailable for scheduling on that gas day.
