Tennessee reported Wednesday the discovery of a small leak nearMain Line Valve 46 on the 100 Line #1 about 15 miles southwest ofWest Monroe, LA. Repairs are expected to take two days, duringwhich meters upstream of Station 47 (West Monroe) may berestricted, Tennessee said.

Tennessee reported Tuesday it had identified a minor valve leakon its 200 Line #2 near Main Line Valve 259 (West Granville, MA).Adverse weather is preventing repairs temporarily, Tennessee said,but it expects to make them Thursday. No nominations or schedulingcuts are anticipated before repairs begin, the pipeline said, butit may be required to limit meters downstream of Station 254 toprimary services for Thursday’s gas day.

TriState Falls as Vector Picks Up the Pace

Vector Pipeline management was all smiles last week asconstruction on the pipeline kicked into high gear and one of itsmain competitors, CMS Gas Transmission & Storage Co.’s TriStatePipeline, halted efforts to pursue its application forconstruction. While TriState foundered, the Vector project, whichwould make 1 Bcf/d of transport available from western Canada toChicago, is on schedule to start service in October.

Two main players in the gas industry’s e business sector joinedforces last week as Altra Energy Technologies and Excelergy Corp.announced an agreement in which Excelergy’s billing and customerinformation software will be marketed along with Altra’s wholesaletrading and risk management products. No financial terms weredisclosed. The venture is currently under way.

Philadelphia Gas Works Still Mired in Trouble

The woes of Philadelphia’s main gas utility, Philadelphia GasWorks (PGW), have grown to embarrassing levels as computer systemproblems, debt, and customer unhappiness continue to dominate thescene. The situation came to a head last week, as the hierarchy ofPGW testified before the Philadelphia Gas Commission during publichearings of the utility’s budget process.

Sonat declared a force majeure Friday for its 26-inch Main PassLine after taking the Olga (LA) Compressor Station off-line due toproblems with the liquids re-injection system. Olga capacity wasreduced to 430,000 dth/d, affecting 35 receipt points. The pipelineestimated it would take 10 days to restore full service at thestation.

PA Gas Deregulation Expected to Pass in June

The Pennsylvania Senate is expected to pass Senate bill 601, the gas deregulation bill for small commercial and residential customers, on June 7, said a spokesman for Sen. Jeff Piccola, the bill’s main sponsor.

Aquila Buys Katy Hub from Western Gas

Lured by the chance to be a main supplier for the wealth ofgas-fired power plants planned for Texas, Aquila Energy bought theKaty Hub from Western Gas Resources last week. The $100 milliondeal is expected to close by April 30, although it still needs toclear the Federal Trade Commission’s Hart-Scott-Rodino Act.
