Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

CMS Buys Large LNG Shipments for Trunkline

CMS Corp.’s marketing division, CMS Marketing, Services and Trading (MST), completed an agreement Tuesday to purchase a total of 9.3 Bcf of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the North West Shelf LNG project in Australia for delivery to the CMS Trunkline LNG facility in Lake Charles, LA. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The announcement marks the second major deal CMS has struck to take advantage of its purchase of Eastern Panhandle Pipeline and Trunkline Gas Co. from Duke Energy last year.

CNE Energy Services Joins LNG Venture

Connecticut Energy Corp. said subsidiary CNE Energy ServicesGroup signed a letter of intent with Conectiv to join a liquefiednatural gas (LNG) storage joint venture. This new business, to benamed Total Peaking Services (TPS), will use an existing 1.2 BcfLNG storage facility in Milford, CT. The venture has received FERCauthorization to provide open access storage; but is awaitingtariff approval, expected later this spring.

New England Market Seen Ripe for LNG

Gordon Shearer, president of Cabot LNG Corp., said he knew if hewaited long enough, liquefied natural gas would have its day in themarketplace. That appears about to happen, at least in New England,where Cabot finds itself positioned to meet growing market demandwith LNG imported from thousands of miles away. At the CambridgeEnergy Research Associates 17th annual executive conference inHouston this week, Shearer enumerated factors growing New Englandgas demand and explained how LNG can economically meet some of thatdemand.
