The battle lines are forming as competition for recognition as the top online energy trading platform heats up. The Energy Trading Platform Holding Company (ETPHCo.), comprised of six of the leading power and natural gas trading companies, has entered into a deal to purchase an interest in Atlanta-based IntercontinentalExchange, which claims to be the world’s largest Internet-based, over-the-counter (OTC) marketplace for energy and metals.

Weekend Price Movements Diverge on East/West Plane

As sources had predicted (see Daily GPI, July 14), the weekendmarket was divided along geographical lines. Eastern quotes were upby around a nickel to a little more than a dime in most cases,while the majority of western points registered declines rangingfrom slightly less than a dime to 20 cents or more.

Transportation Notes

Sonat will be installing facilities today for tie-in of theSandy Hook Line to its system on the Franklinton-Gwinville lines inMississippi, which will require the shut-in of a total of 19 metersin the Hub, Sandy Hook and Dexter fields. The work is expected totake one day but may be extended if problems are encountered. Sonatalso reported beginning maintenance at the Muldon (MS) StorageField that will continue through Oct. 2. The pipeline declared aforce majeure in connection with the project but is not surewhether injection/withdrawal restrictions will be necessary for CSScustomers.
