Four major energy brokers, Amerex Energy, ICAP Energy, Prebon Energy and TFS Energy, have announced the launch of EnergyCurves LLC (ECL), to provide North American power and gas forward curve indicative data services to the energy markets. Logical Information Machines (LIM) will aggregate and distribute the EnergyCurves products.

A WPS Resources Corp. subsidiary, WPS Energy Services Inc., said Thursday that it will launch an open season Friday on 2.5 Bcf of natural gas storage capacity at its Kimball 27 Gas Storage Field, located in St. Clair County, MI. Bids are due by 10 A.M. ET Thursday, March 25. WPS Energy Services said it will notify bidders of the results of the open season at 10 a.m. EST on March 29. Under the open season, WPS Energy Services will entertain offers for 10- to 151-day storage services and can accommodate non-standard requests. Bidders are able to select terms of one to five years. SEC Launches Formal Inquiry into Shell Reserve Reclassification

The decision by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch a formal inquiry into oil and gas reserves overbooking by Royal Dutch/Shell Group may lead to a broader investigation of other producers’ proved and probable numbers. Since Shell first disclosed the overbooking in January, several other oil and gas producers have revised their proved and probable numbers also, including El Paso Corp.

Pemex Debt Offering to Fund Expanded E&P Program

Mexico’s oil and gas monopoly, Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex), is planning to launch one of the largest debt issues ever by any state-owned or private company in the country, announcing plans last week to issue 10-year peso-denominated debt for up to 20 billion pesos ($1.78 billion). Among other things, the proceeds would fund a sorely needed exploration and production (E&P)program.
