The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) over the weekend imposed an “indefinite” moratorium on an environmental review of a potential natural gas drilling site on the Rocky Mountain Front in Montana in response to stiff local opposition, and it plans to re-direct federal funds that were allotted for review of that project to another drilling prospect outside of the Front area where there is “more drilling [activity] and less controversy,” said a spokesman for BLM’s Montana State Office.

DKRW Secures Land to Build Sonoran LNG Facility
Following through on a plan to build a 1.3 Bcf/d liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal to serve U.S. markets, Houston-based DKRW Energy LLC last week purchased 1,500 acres of property at Puerto Libertad on the Gulf of California from the state of Sonora, Mexico. DKRW subsidiary Sonora Pacific LNG signed an agreement with Mexican officials in May to build the terminal and associated gas pipeline facilities (see NGI, May 31).
