Correction

In the article “Southwest Gas Shutoff Aftermath Lingers” (see Daily GPI, March 30), NGI incorrectly stated that during a severe freeze in February “some 40,000 retail gas customers experienced shut-offs in New Mexico, with thousands more in certain areas of southern Arizona.” The 40,000 number is incorrect. The sentence should read “Thousands more were affected in other areas of New Mexico and certain areas of southern Arizona.” NGI regrets the error.

NGI’s Shale Price Indices in Tuesday’s issue (No. 115) incorrectly reflected deals done Friday March 18 for gas delivery March 19 through March 21. The correct indices for deals done March 21 for March 22 delivery are attached and the issue’s pdf has been updated. ( click here for revised pdf )

In the article “New Mexico Lawmakers Set Probe of February Gas Outages” (see Daily GPI, March 15), NGI incorrectly stated that a February natural gas service outage left “40,000” New Mexico Gas Co. customers without service. The correct number was 28,000 outages caused by the severe freeze (Feb. 1-3). NGI regrets the error.

In the article “IEA Official: Shale Will Exert Downward Pressure on Gas, Oil Prices” (see Daily GPI, Feb. 4), NGI incorrectly attributed comments made by International Energy Agency (IEA) Deputy Executive Director Richard Jones to Jim Burkhard, who was also misidentified as IEA’s managing director. Burkhard is the managing director of Cambridge Energy Research Associates. NGI regrets the errors.

Correction

In last week’s story titled “Sweeping Financial Regulatory Reform Clears Senate” (see NGI, May 24), NGI incorrectly stated that both the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission carried out legal action against Amaranth Advisors LLC and its principal over the manipulation of gas futures prices in 2006. Both agencies have carried out legal action only against Amaranth Advisors LLC. NGI regrets the error.

In last Thursday’s story titled “Senate Amendment Would Preserve FERC’s Market Authority” (see Daily GPI, May 20), NGI incorrectly stated that both the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission carried out legal action against Amaranth Advisors LLC and its principal over the manipulation of gas futures prices in 2006. Correction

In the June 23 article titled “UNG Seeks Removal of Trading Limits” it was incorrectly stated that the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) at the close of business Monday held a total of 229,890 August futures contracts on IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) and 97,746 August swaps contracts. The 229,890 contracts on ICE are swaps, not futures, and the 97,746 swaps contracts are New York Mercantile Exchange swaps. NGI regrets the errors.

In a Jan. 28 story entitled “LNG Regasified in Canada Heads for U.S. Northeast by 2009” (see NGI, Jan. 28), NGI incorrectly stated that EnCana Corp.’s proposed Deep Panuke project offshore of Nova Scotia remained in the planning stages with no immediate decision to start construction on the horizon. In fact, Deep Panuke was sanctioned for development by EnCana’s board of directors in October 2007 (see NGI, Oct. 27, 2007) and is proceeding to construction, with first gas expected in 2010. NGI regrets the error.
