ChevronTexaco Pushes Back Service Date for LNG Terminals

ChevronTexaco has reported that it will delay initial service from its two liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminals, the Port Pelican terminal located 40 miles offshore Louisiana in Vermilion Block 140 and its Terminal GNL Mar Adentro located offshore Baja California Norte. Both projects had been planned for service in 2007, but now the company is projecting in-service dates later this decade to coincide with the operation of upstream liquefaction projects.

BP Indonesia, Sempra Ink LNG Supply Deal for North Baja Terminal

The future of a major Indonesia to Mexico export-import project to liquify, transport and regasify natural gas for the West Coast of North America seemed assured Tuesday with the signing by Sempra and BP affiliates of a 20-year agreement for gas from the proposed BP Tangguh LNG Project in Indonesia to supply about half of the 1 Bcf/d going into the jointly owned Sempra-Royal Dutch Shell receiving terminal at Costa Azul, Mexico. The project has the blessings of the governments of the United States, Mexico and Indonesia. Shell will be supplying the other half of the gas.

Gaz Metro, Enbridge, Gaz de France Team Up on Quebec City LNG Project

Gaz Metro Ltd., Enbridge Inc. and Gaz de France are planning a C$700 million liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River downstream of Quebec City in Quebec. The Rabaska LNG terminal, which would be designed to send out about 500 MMcf/d of regasified LNG, is expected to be in service in late 2008 or early 2009.

LNG Developer Teams Up With Indian Tribe on Maine Terminal

Quoddy Bay LLC, a Tulsa-based energy development company, has teamed up to build an LNG import terminal in Maine with a local Indian tribe in a unique arrangement that has tax and developmental advantages. The announcement comes less than a week after Maine officials, including Gov. John Baldacci, touted the then-unnamed project as having a key ingredient for success — local community support.
