Southern Union’s Panhandle Eastern Acquisition Clears Missouri Hurdle

Southern Union Co. said Friday that the Missouri Public Service Commission (“MoPSC”) unanimously approved the settlement agreement reached between it and the MoPSC’s staff and Office of Public Counsel regarding the company’s acquisition of Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co. and its subsidiaries from CMS Gas Transmission Company, a subsidiary of CMS Energy Corporation.

Correction:

A story that ran in Monday’s edition of Daily GPI contained two errors. In the story titled “El Paso Crosses Hurdle But Still Faces Tough Battle Ahead,” a date of May 20 was given for El Paso’s annual meeting, where a proxy battle is scheduled to take place for control of El Paso’s board of directors (see Daily GPI, March 17). El Paso said no date has been set. The story also contained a typo. The name of El Paso’s fomer CEO, William Wise, was misspelled. NGI regrets these errors.

Atmos Energy’s $195M Acquisition of Mississippi Valley Receives MS Approval

Getting over its last major regulatory hurdle unscathed, Dallas-based Atmos Energy Corp. said it expects to close its $195 million acquisition of privately-held Mississippi Valley Gas Co. by Dec. 1. The company said it received approval Tuesday from the Mississippi Public Service Commission to form the state’s largest natural gas utility.
