SandRidge Energy Inc. on Wednesday agreed to sell its Permian Basin portfolio for $2.6 billion in cash to privately held Sheridan Production Partners II, a sale that has been anticipated since early November.

Atlas Pipeline Partners LP (APL) on Monday agreed to pay $600 million for all of the operating assets of privately held Cardinal Midstream LLC, which would give it cryogenic processing plants, associated gathering pipelines and a gas treatment business that includes facilities in the Woodford, Eagle Ford, Haynesville and Fayetteville shales, as well as the Granite Wash and Avalon formations.

Marathon Oil Corp.’s third quarter profits jumped 11% year/year on strong revenue growth and increased production, especially from the Eagle Ford Shale.

Rex Energy Corp., which expanded its operations in Ohio’s Utica Shale earlier this year, said Wednesday it was pleased with the initial production results from its first Ohio Utica Shale well.

Houston explorer Marathon Oil Corp. is reducing its rig count in the Eagle Ford Shale because of drilling efficiencies and dropped rigs in the Anadarko Woodford and Bakken plays in response to a “continued decline in natural gas liquids (NGL) and natural gas prices,” the company said Wednesday.

Houston-based Sanchez Energy Corp.’s proved reserves grew by 125% to 15 million boe during the first half of the year, up from 6.7 million boe at the end of last year, the company said. The company has about 95,000 acres in the Eagle Ford Shale.

Despite previously announced intentions to find a partner to help develop its Eagle Ford Shale acreage, Denver-based Forest Oil Corp. said it has identified a “go-it-alone plan that is attractive to the company.”
