Empress Processing Facilities Return to Service

Inter Pipeline Fund said its Empress II processing plant in Alberta is now fully operational after being down for repairs due to damage caused by a thunderstorm on the evening of June 23. Empress I is the only straddle plant out of six in the area that remains out of service, a BP Canada spokeswoman said. BP operates several of the facilities for Inter Pipeline Fund and others.

ANR Fills Existing Storage Capacity, Seeks Interest in Expansion

El Paso Corp. subsidiary ANR Pipeline Co. said Thursday that it has fully subscribed the company’s existing storage capacity through the 2006-2007 withdrawal season. In addition, the company announced that it is extending its non-binding open season for expansion of storage and associated transportation service at the request of customers.

CNOOC ‘Fully Prepared’ for U.S. Review of Unocal Offer; Analysts Expect Chevron to Prevail

Acknowledging concerns about China’s global economic ambitions, the CEO of China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) said Friday that the company was “fully prepared” to participate in a U.S. government security review of the unsolicited offer to buy Unocal Corp. for $18.5 billion cash. CEO Fu Chengyu also said CNOOC would discuss selling some Unocal pipeline and storage assets, and consider putting some assets not involved in exploration and production “under American management.”

The coalition will provide public education regarding LNG and advocacy functions.

CCRO Backs Safe Harbor for ‘Non-Criminal’ Mistakes in Price Reporting

The Committee of Chief Risk Officers (CCRO) said it fully supports the concept of a “safe harbor” that would legally protect energy companies who make unintentional, “non-criminal errors” when reporting prices on natural gas and power trades to publishers of price indexes, noting it would pave the way for greater industry participation in the indexes.
