Gazprom, Statoil Finalizing LNG Agreements

Russia’s Houston-based Gazprom Marketing & Trading USA (GM&T USA) and Norway’s Statoil ASA said Tuesday they are finalizing agreements to allow Gazprom to import liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the regasification terminal at Cove Point, MD, where Statoil holds capacity.

Woodside Focused on Southern CA for LNG Location

With a promotional launch to its ambitious liquefied natural gas (LNG) plans for California now complete, Australian-connected Woodside Natural Gas Inc. is focusing on finalizing its proposed onshore receipt site for regasified LNG shipments along the Southern California coast. Woodside will make public its final site decision next month, a Los Angeles-based spokesperson said Tuesday.

ExxonMobil Leases Advanced LNG Technology to U.K. Firm

After finalizing new technology that will speed up construction times on liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities, ExxonMobil Upstream Research Co. said that it has licensed the patented LNG storage tank technology to U.K.-based Skanska Whessoe, an engineering, procurement and construction contractor with specialized, worldwide experience in storage and handling of low-temperature fluids.

Industry Seeks Delay, Offers Refinements to Proposed Price Reporting Rules

FERC should put off finalizing its proposed rules on price reporting to publications until it has a chance to evaluate how well its voluntary guidelines are succeeding, producers said in comments filed Monday (RM03-10). If the Commission does proceed with its proposed amendments to blanket certificates, it needs to refine its definitions of prohibited behavior, producers and others said.

VA SCC Proposes Permanent Retail Access Rules

As it moves closer to statewide deregulation, the Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) is finalizing permanent rules that will govern retail access to competitive energy services for both the electric and natural gas industries. The SCC is calling for public comment on the proposed rules, which take effect Jan. 1, 2002.
