The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Monday finalized reforms to its natural gas and oil program that it said would improve environmental protection of natural resources on U.S. public lands while aiding in the “orderly leasing and balanced development” of energy supplies.

Anadarko Petroleum Corp. and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) last week finalized a natural gas lease agreement that Gov. Ed Rendell said would provide much needed revenue for 2011 and still fulfill an obligation to protect the state’s forest lands.

Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell said Tuesday the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) finalized a natural gas lease agreement, which would allow the state to meet its need for revenue from drilling next year, while also fulfilling its obligation to protect Pennsylvania’s natural resources.
