Industry Brief

Devon Energy Corp. agreed to sell its producing Panyu field offshore China to China National Offshore Oil Corp. for $515 million ($370 million after tax). Since Devon announced in late 2009 that it would reposition itself as a North American onshore producer, it has sold almost $10 billion ($7.9 billion after tax) worth of Gulf of Mexico and international assets, exceeding its initial expectations of $4.5-7.5 billion (see Daily GPI, Nov. 17, 2009). Still to be sold are assets in China and Angola; all of the sales are expected to be completed by year-end.

Correction

The story “Construction Starts on California Gas Storage Field” (see Daily GPI, Jan. 13) misstated the length of a pipeline that will be built to connect the Gill Ranch natural gas storage facility currently under construction in the San Joaquin Valley of California to PG&E’s existing transmission backbone pipeline (No. 401) north of Panoche, CA. The actual length of the to-be-built pipeline is 25 miles. NGI regrets the error.

Transportation Notes

CIG reported that during the final stages of repairs to its Totem Storage Field dehydration facility it encountered additional issues that prevented it from restoring full withdrawal capacity Thursday as previously planned (see Daily GPI, Dec. 17). Effective with Intraday 1 (Cycle 3) nominations for Thursday, Totem withdrawals were being reduced to the prorated scheduled quantity, CIG said, and any additional withdrawal nominations for subsequent cycles would be cut to zero until further notice. Injections remain unaffected by this outage, CIG noted.
