Gray Davis in which the president delivered a public and unmistakable ‘no’ to price caps as a way out of the western energy crisis, the Cal-ISO, Southern California Edison and San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) filed — under protest — their plan to form a single, state regional transmission organization (RTO).

The Oil & Gas Asset Clearinghouse sold more than $18.1million of properties as of its Oct. 25th Hybrid auction, whichfeatured simultaneous floor and Internet bidding in Midland, TX.Based in Houston, the company is a wholly owned subsidiary ofPetroleum Place, an Internet portal and marketplace serving theupstream energy industry. The Clearinghouse said it offered 128lots, consisting of more than 800 wells, including 46 higher valuedproperties. Year-to-date, Internet bidders have purchased more than$25 million properties through Selective Offerings, andparticipation on the Internet also is increasing, said the company.

SmartEnergy Signs Deal With Yahoo!

Internet-based electricity and natural gas provider SmartEnergyannounced that it has entered an agreement to become a featuredmerchant on Yahoo! Shopping, marking the first residential energyservice provider on the e-commerce provider. Yahoo! Shopping willnow give customers in deregulated energy markets a choice in thepurchase of electricity and gas.

And expiration dayTuesday was no different as traders tested both sides of a largetrading range before depositing the January contract 2.3 centslower to its final resting place at $1.765. And in doing so, theJanuary contract tumbled over a half dollar during its reign as theprompt month.
