The long-awaited Rockies Express Pipeline (REX) was accepting nominations last Friday for initial deliveries Saturday, Jan. 12, starting up initial operations of the massive pipeline from the fastest growing U.S. supply region. The pipeline eventually will stretch nearly 1,700 miles to points East across the country.

Two Rockies Express Pipeline (REX) shippers have renewed their request for FERC to take swift action on a complaint accusing Northern Natural Gas of restricting access to receipt point capacity at an interconnection between the REX and Northern Natural systems.

The start-up date for the western portion of the Rockies Express Pipeline, known as REX-West, has become a moving target. Sponsors are now projecting that service on the bulk of REX-West will begin on or about Jan. 12.

Two Rockies Express Pipeline (REX) shippers have renewed their request for FERC to take swift action on a complaint accusing Northern Natural Gas of restricting access to receipt point capacity at an interconnection between the REX and Northern Natural systems.

FERC Thursday gave Rockies Express Pipeline LLC (REX) the green light to place into service approximately 500 miles of the REX-West portion of the massive pipeline.

Another piece of the massive Rockies Express Pipeline (REX) fell into place Monday. FERC gave REX the go-ahead to begin service at the Meeker Compressor Station in Rio Blanco County, CO.

Northern Natural Gas disputed allegations that it restricted access to receipt point capacity at a proposed interconnection between the Rockies Express Pipeline (REX) and Northern Natural systems to shippers who agreed to buy a “phantom backhaul service.”

With the mammoth 1,600-mile Rockies Express Pipeline (REX) making its way eastward, liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals scheduled to come on line in the Gulf Coast region over the next two to three years and increasing amounts of gas flowing from Texas basins, there will be a number of significant changes to the market, many of which aren’t yet appreciated, said Bentek Energy LLC CEO Porter Bennett.
