Altra, Excelergy Enter into Co-Marketing Venture

Two main players in the gas industry’s e business sector joinedforces yesterday as Altra Energy Technologies and Excelergy Corp.announced an agreement in which Excelergy’s billing and customerinformation software will be marketed along with Altra’s wholesaletrading and risk management products. No financial terms weredisclosed. The venture is currently under way.

Oneok Capitalizing on Gas With Power Entry

Oneok Inc. plans to enter the electric generation and powermarketing businesses with an Oklahoma generating facility. Thecompany signed a contract with General Electric to buy four gasturbine generators with a capacity of 300 MW. A generation facilityencompassing the four units will be constructed and in service byJune 1, 2001.

After swallowing two energy distributors in two months most observers expected Energy East to enter a digestion phase, but the company came back for a third helping last week. The parent company of New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG) said it is adding CTG Resources, Inc., parent of Connecticut Natural Gas (CNG), to its plate, which already is loaded with CMP Energy and Connecticut Energy.

PG&E, UDS Announce $2 Billion Energy Deal

PG&E Corp. and Ultramar Diamond Shamrock Corp. (UDS)announced yesterday they had signed a letter of intent to enterinto what is probably the largest energy purchase alliance to datein the industry, representing about $2 billion in electricity,natural gas and steam purchases over a seven-year period. UDS isone of the largest independent refiners in the U.S., with sevenrefineries in the U.S. and Canada processing 650,000 barrels perday, 6,400 branded retail gasoline/convenience stores, and a largehome heating oil business in the Northeast.
