Former El Paso Trader Pleads Guilty to Knowingly Transmitting False Gas Trades

Donald Burwell, an ex-El Paso Corp. natural gas trader, pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Houston to violating a provision of the Commodity Exchange Act for his involvement in providing inaccurate trading information to industry publications. Burwell, whose trial was scheduled to begin March 6, agreed to cooperate with the government in similar cases.

INGAA Official, State Regulators Lay Out Winter Concerns, Issues to FERC

Pipeline representative Donald Santa told FERC Thursday that pipeline shippers will have to prepare for the possibility that higher penalties may have to be used by pipeline companies to discourage customers from using gas that isn’t theirs this winter. He also said pipeline companies are going to have to work more closely with customers to find solutions to the problem of liquids in the gas stream because of the 16 processing plants that remain out of service.

Sempra ‘Got It Right’ When It Set Gas Policy, COO Says

Basking in a series of financial successes, Sempra Energy COO Donald Felsinger said his company cashed in on the big bet it made five years ago on natural gas strategy. Speaking Monday at Bank of America’s annual investment conference in San Francisco, Felsinger said Sempra correctly projected that North American production reached its peak and then it invested accordingly in liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals, pipelines and storage.
