Sempra to Hold Open Season for Developing Louisiana Gas Storage Facility

A unit in San Diego, CA-based Sempra Energy Wednesday announced an open season running through June 21 for its developing Pine Prairie salt dome natural gas storage project in Evangeline Parish, LA, which is expected to be connected to 11 gas pipelines. The new facility is currently scheduled to begin commercial operations the fourth quarter of next year, near Henry Hub, the nation’s largest natural gas trading center.

FERC Staff Settles Gaming Charges Against Aquila Unit, SDG&E

FERC staff on Friday moved to clear San Diego Gas & Electric Co. (SDG&E) and Aquila Merchant Services Inc. of charges that they tried to manipulate California’s electricity markets in 2000-2001. Meanwhile, bankrupt Mirant Corp. disclosed it is closing in on finalizing its own settlement with FERC staff aimed at resolving gaming allegations levied against the generator.
