Swift Estimates 3-6 Weeks for Hurricane Repairs, Loss of 3Q Production

Swift Energy Co. said repairs to its Louisiana coastline facilities, damaged in Hurricane Katrina, will take three to six weeks, depending on availability of supplies, equipment, parts — and personnel and contractors. The storm also will result in Swift deferring 2.75-3.25 Bcfe of production in the third quarter.

Chevron Begins Gulf Production at Typhoon

Chevron U.S.A. Production Co. reported that oil and gas production began July 29 at its most recent deepwater Gulf of Mexico prospect. Depending upon well performance, production from the Typhoon field is expected to reach about 40,000 b/d of crude oil and about 60 MMcf/d during the fourth quarter 2001. Chevron estimates the commercial life of the Typhoon field to be five to eight years.
