Tipperary Closes East Texas Sales, Adds to Queensland Interest

Denver-based Tipperary Corp. said last week that it has closed its previously announced transactions with Delta Petroleum Corp. and has subsequently acquired additional interests in the Comet Ridge coalbed methane project in Queensland, Australia. In addition, Tipperary said it has agreed with Williams Production RMT Co. to cease dewatering activities on the Hanna Basin project in Wyoming.

Gasco Picks up Acreage in Gas-Rich Uinta Basin from El Paso

Denver-based Gasco Energy Inc. said Thursday it had successfully completed a strategic exchange of certain properties located in the gas-rich Uinta Basin with El Paso Corp. In the transaction, Gasco received 2,571 net acres located in its Uinta Basin Riverbend Project in exchange for the contractual right to earn Wasatch rights on 10,850 gross Uinta Basin acres (2,713 net acres).

With 2001 earning results out of the way, Denver-based Western Gas Resources Inc. announced its Dec. 31, 2001 reserve additions and its capital budget and hedging positions for 2002. The company replaced 275% of 2001 production of 36.3 Bcfe. Net production increased 31% in 2001 compared to 2000.

MarkWest Acquires Alberta Gathering System

Denver-based MarkWest Hydrocarbon Inc. has acquired an Alberta gathering system for C$3.1 million (US$2.0 million). The purchase includes six miles of pipelines and compression facilities that currently gather 5,500 Mcf/d. MarkWest plans to expand the system to 10,000 Mcf/d by early 2002. The new addition in southeastern Alberta is located in the Bantry field, where MarkWest already has wells and drilling locations.
